Preamble:

Our Q this morning drove down from F3 Cherokee to share the mission and vision of an F3 organization called Speed for Need. Speed for Need focuses on pushing riders with a special need in customized racing wheelchairs to help them participate in and complete fitness events –5Ks, 10Ks, or marathons – experiences that they would not be able to have on their own.   ALSO - the illustrious Jack Bauer gave a proper, by the book disclaimer. Truly a rare sight to behold.

Warm-O-Rama:

After a quick mosey around the front parking lot, Q called for some light stretches and warm ups. QIC shared a bit more about Speed for Need. Once the warm up was completed, QIC gave a quick demo on how to setup and use the chair and we were off to the races!

The Thang:

Q loaded the chair with 120lbs of sandbags and we partnered up. The PAX took a small break while Q pumped up the chair's tires that included:
  • 20 steps ups / 20 squirkins (sp?)
  • 20 calf raises / 20 Mike Tysons
  • 20 dips / 20 derkins
After the tires were good to go, each group of 2 took turns down the hill and back while the rest of the PAX did variations of burpees. It was "fun". Next, Q lead a game of "catch me if you can" as the PAX took turns pushing the chair. One paring would take off with the chair while the group stayed back and did an exercise. After, the group was run to catch up to the chair. Rinse and Repeat until all groups got 2 turns with the chair. We finished with some mary by the flag for an exciting morning!
