Take me out to the ballgame!

AO: Gladiator

When: 10/06/2022

QIC: Brownie aka "Other"

PAX (12): Cheneral, DREAMER, Fire Drill, Laces, Macbeth, Mater, Moonshine, Scratch-Off, Spandex, vertigo, Judy

Preamble:

The regular season is OVER folks and while the hated Braves technically won the NL East, I’d like to point out that they have identical final records and finished 10-9 (Braves adv) in the season series. Most importantly, BOTH teams are in the playoffs which begin tomorrow. So, with all that in mind, the Q kicked off the baseball themed playlist and we were off.

Warm-O-Rama:

No FNGs, so quick disclaimer and some Braves’ disparagement. Short mosey as “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” played to the double tier parking pavilion lot where we did SSHs, Windmills, Imperial Walkers, and Weedpickers followed by another short mosey to the nearest baseball field (also called “Rounders” for those among us from across the pond).

The Thang:

Since it was time for REAL baseball, the Q decided to utilize the 7 of Diamonds – similar to 4 corners with 4 sets of exercises with some travel in between, but rep counts increase by 7 with each set to get the PAX prepped. We alternated between mosey and Bernie Sanders between each of the 4 locations to keep it interesting. An additional twist added was the playlist included entrance songs from some of the top current closers and some from the recent past. First member of the PAX to guess the closer name correctly just based on the song, could cut their rep count for one round in half (14 to 7).

  • Mahktar Ndiayes (7 reps)
  • Burpees (14 reps)
  • Mercans (21 reps – reg, wide, stagger L, stagger R)
  • Sumo squat jumps (28 reps)
  • Shoulder taps (35 single count)
  • LBCs (42 reps)
  • Mountain climbers (49 single count)

After we completed this, we were sufficiently warmed up to run the bases, so 2 laps with the first being regular mosey and 2nd being a sprint. Close to time, so rounded up the “players” and we headed back to the flag.

Once we arrived at the flag, the Q let the group know about the new record the Mets set this year by being HBP the most of any team EVER in baseball (112), so to close things out, we did 2 rounds of our own HBP:

  • 5 Hand release Mercans
  • 5 BBSUs
  • 5 Plankjacks

COT:

Lots shared by the group and likely some things left unsaid/on our hearts, but a few notables:

  • Bo Knows’ wife had another treatment and continues to battle cancer
  • Raspberry and the M had a little baby scare as they await the arrival of their daughter
  • Still folks looking for new jobs

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Thanks again for letting me lead so soon after the BD Q last week. Hope all enjoyed the theme and let’s play ball! Go Mets!!!!  #LFGM
