Heavy Hearts

AO: Halo

When: 11/29/2021

QIC: Jorts

PAX (14): Abacus (Mark Green), Blue, Fondue Guy, Forrest, LiMu, Percy, So So Def, Sour Mash, Sparky, Spring Break, Steamer, Stu, Tweaker

Preamble:

The pax of East Cobb pushed through the chilly morning with heavy hearts for our brother Wideright as he lost his youngest daughter, Kate Belle, over the weekend.  A rock in our community, the pax of East Cobb kept the Jones family at the top of our minds both during this beatdown and as we go about our daily activities.

4 pax began the morning with our traditional ruck.

Warm-O-Rama:

Let’s get warm fast with a mosey from the parking lot to the track at Dickerson middle school

At the track, all in cadence x12:

  • SSH
  • Copperhead squats
  • Bear hugs
  • Lunges
  • Merkins
  • Don quixote

The Thang:

Begin with a 4 corners on the track

  • C1 – 10 Merkins
  • C2 – 10 M + 20 Lunges (alpha count)
  • C3 – 10 M + 20 L + 30 Stone Mountains
  • C4 – 10 M + 20 L + 30 SM + 40 Hammers

No trip back down the corners, yet.  Mosey out to the field

Out: ~50 yards of burpee broad jump

Back: ~50 yards of bear crawls

Back to the corners for the trip back down the C3, C2 and C1

Mosey back to the JF Baptist Church parking lot

a signature Wideright exercise of pain is the uphill backwards run suicide with an exercise at every row of parking spots, so that is what we did.

Backwards run to first parking spot line with 5 merkins, run back to the curb, backwards to the 2nd line for 10 merkins, on up to the 6th line with 30 merkins.

Modified Indian run over the church, where instead of back to front we went front to back for a loop, ending at the flag.

2 minutes of Mary to close

COT:

We closed with a prayer and moment of silence for Kate Belle. It was beautiful and the cold wind went calm for a few moments as she graced us with her presence.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

No parent should ever have to deal with the pain of losing a child.  This group of men consists of many fathers who shared their own reactions and perspective on the unimaginable pain that the Jones family is experiencing, which none of us can truly appreciate.

Personally YHC received the news on Sunday morning while both of my young boys were throwing temper tantrums and my wife was at a workout class of her own, to say it provided me with perspective on my current situation is a significant understatement.

Enjoy life, all of its little moments, ups and downs, because it is a precious thing that we never know how long will last.
