Preamble:

The numbers at the Norseman continue to be strong.  But with these numbers, there’s a gentle reminder that not all of these new guys have been on a proper tour of the park.  Not some Yogi Bear weak sauce tour…we’re talking an Anthony Bourdain style “Parts Unknown” tour.

Warm-O-Rama:

We left the new flag location and headed towards the old flag location.  Paused there for a quick warmup and a little nostalgia.  Moment of silence for the old flag spot, then we did some SSH, weed pickers, then hillbillies.

The Thang:

We were warm…not really, but we had miles to cover.  So we moseyed towards the lake, hung a left on the sidewalk next to the lake and stopped at the ‘meditation area’.  Also known as the pole where one PAX mounted said pole, took a spin and almost decapitated me years ago.  Won’t fully say the name here, but rhymes with NotRoss.  Quick set of 10 merkins in cadence.

Mosey continued as we entered the woods (headlamps on!) and headed up the hill to the church parking lot.  In the lot we bear crawled to a defined spot then lunge walked back.  Repeated this and then mosey commenced again.  It had been a while since I had been in these woods, and we found ourselves missing the turn for the bridge across the creek to Crikey’s amphitheater.  Chapter 11 knew the way (or straight up lied and just got lucky) and we found ourselves at the amphitheater.  We also found a fallen tree covering said amphitheater.  Quick Peyton Manning omaha audible and we were moseying again.  This time up Nacho’s hill (1 of many named after our founder) towards the playground.  To the pavilion we went, found some bench, then did a quick 15 dips in cadence.

Moseyed from there over to the softball fields on the far side of the concession stands.  Step ups ensued with a ten count in cadence being performed.  Side note…20 people will still be tight on two sets of stands and two dugout benches…and head on a swivel for that dugout roof in the morning.  She’s lower than you want her to be!

Mosey out the back of the fields, through the grass towards the little track.  Entered the ball field and started at home plate.  High knees until the grass meets the infield, then run to the foul pole.  Ten wide merkins, then run across the outfield to the other foul pole.  Ten more wide merkins, then run to the infield.  High knees from the dirt until home plate.  Mosey on…

We ran past the track to the other side of the field where a new trail had been installed.  Ah, memories of twisted ankles on the old beaten up pavement.  These new guys only experienced the perfectly smooth gravel path.  We’re getting soft!

After the trail we found ourselves at the furthest ball field from the flag.  Assumed dip position on the retaining wall and performed 12 dips in cadence.  Mosey continued and we headed down the main road…for about 15 feet.  On our six for ten box cutters.  Then, off on another trail.  We took this trail to the parking lot by the little track, then performed 5 burpees.  Moseyed on through the parking lot to the far end where the trail meets up with the blacktop.  Ten copperhead squats while we waited on the six.  Took the trail behind the pavilion/playground up the hill where we eventually came out at the pavilion.  Heard a “where in the world are we” at this moment and informed the PAX that we were 100 yards from the flag.  Mission accomplished…get the PAX turned around, but train them in the newly found areas of the park!

At the pavilion we performed some Groupies.  The Q made this name up as the last time it was performed, Groupie was on the Q and I think it was 2018.  But, you get a partner on a picnic table in plank position at one end of the picnic table.  The other partner gets on the ground under the partner and performs a leg press of the table/pax combo.  Q called for 10 reps.

Moseyed back to the flag for a quick round of Mary.  LBC, American Hammers, Jlo, Freddie Mercury.

2.33 miles on the tour.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Pleasure to lead!   We have lots of great AOs and Norseman offers lots of options for workouts.  Hopefully the tour today helped others find areas where future workouts can go and stupidity can commence!!
