First Time to Norseman, Why Not Q It!?!

AO: Norseman

When: 11/18/2021

QIC: Caffey

PAX (14): Beaker, Caffey, Callahan, Dipstick, Ha-ha, Hacker, HotSauce, Ivy League, Nacho Libre, Pepper, TMI, Walkie Talkie, Bottom Bunk, Duke

Preamble:

With the Shuffle in full swing, I saw a Q opening at Norseman and jumped on it. Having never been to a BD at Norseman, I was excited at the possibilities I saw at the AO. I think some of the PAX in attendance didn’t know what to expect, so I figured I had to bring something good. Introduced myself and gave my long-winded and over wordy disclaimer (lawyers get paid by the word, so the more I talk …. you know the rest). And we were off.

Warm-O-Rama:

Ha-Ha mentioned that our momentary mosey over to a bigger area was the shortest mosey in the history of Norseman. I’ll take it since I knew what was to come in the BD. We warmed up with the following:

  • SSH: 10
  • Weed picker: 10
  • Wind Mill: 10
  • Arm Circles’ on your own

On to the real “Warm-O-Rama,” which was a Murpee mile. We headed up the main park road in the gloom, stopping at each speed bump or hump and alternating between 10 Mercans and 5 burpees per speed bump/hump. I ultimately believe it was around 6-7 sets on the half mile out and 6-7 sets on the half mile back. The earlier finishers did step ups on the bleachers for the 6.

The Thang:

Thang 1: The Quarter Pounder

Given the fact I had an entire turf football field to use at my disposal, I figured a quarter pounder was the way to go.

  • Sprint to the 25 yard line and do 25 hand release Mercans. Run backwards to end zone.
  • Sprint to the 50 and do 50 Bonnie Blairs (Alpha). Run Backwards to the end zone.
  • Sprint to the far 25 (yes, I said 75 and Nacho was quick to ask where the 75 yard line was haha) and do 75 jump squats. Run backwards to the end zone.
  • Sprint to the opposite end zone and do 100 Moracan Night clubs.

Everyone was so fast, so I figured a double quarter pounder was appropriate. Rinse and repeat men! Mary for the 6.

Thang 2: Four Corners

Running a little low on time, I had to limit the rep count so we could finish in time. Run to first corner and do first exercise, run to second corner and do first and second exercises, run to third corner and do first, second, and third exercises, and run to fourth corner and do all exercises.

  • First corner: 10 buzz saws
  • Second corner: 10 buzz saws and 10 Carolina dry docks
  • Third corner: 10 buzz saws, 10 Carolina dry docks, 10 diamond Mercans
  • Fourth corner: 10 buzz saws, 1 Carolina 10 diamond Mercans, and 10 Freddy Mercury

A little low plank for the 6.

Thang 3: Guantanamo

Had to finish it out with something a little “fun” so we went with a recent favorite… Guantanamo.  Lay on back with feet up in the air around 75 degrees. I ran around trying to push everyone’s feet to the ground while they tried to stop me from pushing their feet down. LBC’s for the last 30 seconds and we called it a morning.

COT:

We talked about the upcoming Santa Ruck, and Callahan stepped up to collect donations for the AO. Also discussed a potential holiday fire pit (see Ha-Ha for details). Finally, we discussed two PAX who were dealing with stomach illness.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

It was a blast to lead the Norseman, and I will definitely be back! Thanks for the warm hospitality brothers!
