Preamble:

3 years since my dad passed away. Got something good planned. 15 showed up during Spring Break week to join in the celebration. Some were more on time than others...

Warm-O-Rama:

Jog behind the rec center and circle up. We did 10x a bunch of things. I don't really remember.

The Thang:

Mosey to the soccer field. Today's WOD is "Kerrie." Officer Kerrie Orozco was killed in the line of duty on 5-20-15. Here is the workout:
  • 100m run
  • 5 burpees
  • 20 situps
  • 15 mercans
  • 100m run
You'll notice the original workout calls for 2 minutes of rest between rounds. Well, this is F3 and we don't do that. So instead PAX did Absolutions matching the round # after the second run. This ate up most of the time, and after giving the six a couple minutes to catch up we all jailbroke back to the flag. Scratch-off led us in Jack Webbs until time was up.

COT:

  • I spoke about the anniversary of my dad's passing and requested prayers
  • BigShort- baby #4 coming today!
  • Halpha Day starting next Friday night at Boneyard
  • Convergence May 4 at Nirvana

Naked-Man Moleskin:

If I were as wise as Speedo I would have designed a workout that was an analogy for grief and what I've experienced the past 3 years. Instead I just do something hard. Sometimes it feels OK. Sometimes it feels like day 1 all over again. Two things I have learned:
  1. God is good. I could point to lots of specific examples, but I'll just say- God has been here through it all
  2. This is a special community. The guys who reached out in the first days and months, the ones who continue to ask- thank you. The folks in Wilmington who prayed over me in the days after my dad passed will always be special to me. There were months where I had to go to F3 just to feel normal. Thank you all. I'm trying to pay it forward as much as it can.
Aye!!
