The REAL Groundhog Day Prediction Is In!

Preamble:

Despite the weather, I couldn’t pass up leading on my day.  The Prognosticator of all Prognosticators only gets one chance to shine, albeit in the middle of winter in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania on a random day that nobody really cares about.  Guess that’s what happens when I’m only 40 percent accurate historically.  But today that changes at F3!

Warm-O-Rama:

Moseyed to the Rec Center parking lot for the standard warm-up stuff.

The Thang:

Divided into two teams.  Team 1 representing Early Spring and Team 2 representing 6 more weeks of winter.  Each team BLIMP repeatedly between 15 power poles up Wills Road to the top of the hill.  First team to the top wins.  Drum roll please for all to see…..An EARLY SPRING it shall be!

BLIMP double reps back down the hill to the Equestrian parking lot for some Groundhog Day movie trivia.

Question 1: How many times does Phil re-live Groundhog Day as shown in the movie?  Team 1 answers 28 while Team 2 answers 10,000.  Me – Team 2 are you sure that’s what you meant to say? Lumberg – 10,000.  Me – No seriously, Is that your final answer?  Lumberg – 10,000!!  Me – Correct answer 38 – Its Burpee time for Team 2.

Question 2: What is Rita’s winning bid for Phil during the Bachelor Auction?  Team 1 answers $2,000 while Team 2 finally decides to play the game to win and answers $1,000.  Correct answer $339.88 – Lunges as punishment for Team 1.

Question 3:  What year did the song on the alarm clock every morning, “I got you babe” make it to number 1 on the charts in the U.S.  Team 1 answers 1971 and Team 2 answers 1973.  Correct answer for all the marbles is 1965.  Merkins for Team 2.

Team 1 wins the trivia contest to leave no doubts about the Early Spring prediction.
