Braving the elements

AO: The Storm

When: 03/12/2022

QIC: Ace Ventura

PAX (7): Ace Ventura, BaggerVance, Baskins, Dunshire, SaaSy MoM, Swiper, Valley Girl

Preamble:

Four brave PAX (YHC, Swiper, Baskins, and Valley Girl) showed up for pre run hijinks.  As they left the parking garage, they were aggressively pelted with massive flurries of snow and cold wind (dramatization, may not fully and accurately be depicting events, but this is certainly how it felt).   They were momentarily disheartened but would not be deterred in the goals of advancement.  PAX were pushed past their limits (thank you Baskins for not letting me quit!), and record 2.25 miles before the scheduled ruck began.

Warm-O-Rama:

PAX rucked up to the top of the parking structure.  A light Warm-up was conducted:

10 Side-straddle hops

10 Weed pickers

7 Hillbillies

And child poses to strech the calves.

The Thang:

After warmup, we discussed this week’s Q Source topic, accountability.

It was determined that every person has a blind spot that they are weak on, and need outsid standards.  The Q source writer indicates he was in the Army, which required him to be in shape to continue service.  This mechanism gave him automatic motivation to continue his quest for better fitness. Once he left, and there were no standards being enforced, he gained 40 pounds in 3 months!

We had a discussion about how we need to have goals (standards) that are specific, and either measurable or binary (example: I must weigh under 175 pounds, or I did not consume alcohol today, etc.).

YHC point of privilege: I think this was a great cathartic discussion that each of us is grappling with on a daily basis.  We must continue to identify where our blind spots are and how we can continue having external standards to keep us from letting those spots conquer us.

After a short discussion, we kept a good pace ruck, ruminating on the accountability topic and other general 2nd F enjoyment.

COT:

At coffee, it was a normal discussion about life, events, etc, until BaggerVance put a brick on the accelerator and asked the hard hitting question “what is the most difficult thing you’ve had to adjust to in your life?”.  Every PAX there shared intimate details about things they have/are struggling with, and it brought out some excellent discussion.  YHC thinks this may have been the deepest conversation he has experienced in F3 (kudos to BaggerVance for kicking us into gear this morning).

Naked-Man Moleskin:

A lot of talk about Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson today.
