It’s Log, It’s Log, It’s better than bad, it’s good!

Preamble:

A call out for a Q and since I have driven around for a week with logs that I used at Rubicon Tuesday I jumped in so I can get some extra mileage out of them before I tuck them away or return them to their owner, Ha-ha.

That teaser led to a number of log references and a temporary change in nickname.

Warm-O-Rama:

I asked a couple of pax to grab a log off the top of my vehicle. Oh, and by the way, the log should not be put down during the workout. As we jogged up to the lake view I let them know that if it does touch the ground it’s a 10 burpee penalty.

Once at the dam I said they could put the log down for warmups…they (correctly) did not believe me and held tight. Knocked out some copper head squats, SSH, and arm circles while watching Cookie and Walkie Talkie balance the log.

The Thang:

First round is a dora. Starting at the benches there will be a requirement of 100 dips, 200 mercans, 300 squats. Any order, while partner A runs down the sidewalk and back while B does the exercises. The log will travel back and forth during this with the stipulation that a pax should not carry it back to back times during their runs. No penalties here. Even a few pax that would carry the log alone.

We help finish out the squats for the six and mosey back toward the flag..I am moseying along with the log when suddenly my ankle pain FLARES UP. OW, OH put the log down, it hurts! But alas, several pax swoop in and grab the log before I let it go. I know they were looking out for me but I could tell they were mostly worried about the log being put down. Also, it was fake, my ankle was fine.

Over to the parking lot for a round of five corners mucho chesto plus some LBC’s. A couple of guys holding the log say they will modify to curls….No…., everyone must complete the mercans (20x) and the LBCs (25x). Figure it out as a team. And so pax take turns and even do the LBCs with the log to ensure all the work is done. At one point in the dark corner I bump right into Stu holding the log! but no luck, he holds on tight and we still have yet to do any burpees.

A little more time so all pax without a log grab a rock and circle up. We do 15x exercises and then cycle two to the right so that everyone gets a chance with the log:

  • Curls
  • Overhead Presses
  • Kettlebell swings….no..actually Rows
  • Skull Crushers
  • More Curls

Back to the flag where I announce it is 6:15 and the workout is over so you can put the log down now.
But from the back “He’s Lying, it’s 6:14, don’t put it down!”
Fine, place it back on my truck (their words not mine, *ahem FordMafia*) and so today we did not do a single burpee.

COT:

Convergence tomorrow is shaping up to be a huge event under the tutelage of Stu.

For TNT I got another chance to talk about my 5 years in the gloom and what it has meant to me physically, emotionally, and socially. It has improved my work life, my family life, and friend circle. I encouraged everyone to keep accelerating and even after all this time I continue to get better and find new challenges. Plenty of leadership opportunities within F3Alpha so find your strength. A special thanks to Windjammer which I am making a more regular part of my week.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Always a pleasure to lead.
