Throwback Tuesday – BLIMPS and Burpees

AO: Rubicon

When: 04/19/2022

QIC: Lefty

PAX (13): Caffey, Cookie, False Start, FannyPack, Focker, Groundhog, Lefty, lumbergh, Pinkey, PitStop, Special K, Stiff Arm, Trebek

Preamble:

With yesterday being the 7th Birthday of the Rubicon, I wanted to do something to honor the past trailblazers who gave us the gift we enjoy today.  Thanks to Rubicon resident historian/librarian/data geek Lumbergh, I leveraged the 1st recorded beatdown at the Rubicon from May 2018 as a guide for today’s BD.

Burpees, Deconstructed Burpess, and some Burpees for the Flag

13 PAX (2 pre-runners) were eager to get going in the chilly gloom.

Warm-O-Rama:

Because of the abnormal 40 degree temps, I wanted to get the PAX moving and moving quickly, so we moseyed around the corner to the parking lot of the Rec Center for:

SSH

Weed pickers (called “Cotton Pickers” in the OG backblast)

Windmills

Carolina Drydocks

Arm circles (added for good measure, as I knew we’d be needing fresh arms today)

The Thang:

Moseyed over to the Pool Parking lot for 2 rounds of BLIMPS; run to island, complete exercise, run back, run to island, complete first exercise, run to second island, complete second exercise, etc.

Burpees (5)

Lunges (10 single count)

Imperial Walkers (15 alpha)

Merkins (20)

Plank Jacks (25)

Squats (30)

Plank for the 6

Moseyed over to the smaller parking lot closer to the pool where we did a descending ladder of deconstructed burpees:

Squat, Bent over leg lifts, merkins, jumps

Running short on time, we then moseyed over to the flag parking lot where we grabbed a partner.  1 partner sprinted to the parking bump while the other partner did Mountain Climbers

Completed 3 rounds of sprints/climbers and moseyed back to the flag right at time.

COT:

Prayers for PitStop and his family for some big decisions coming up.

Continued prayers for Ready-Mix’s family.  Visitation tonight and memorial service tomorrow.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Always a pleasure and an honor to lead this group of HIM.  Looking forward to getting on the Q sheet more often once my Site Q immunity runs out!
