The Thang:

Mosey to the splash park where a board of pain awaited. Simple plagiarized workout from somewhere else in the region. Descending rep counts of exercises. After each round run a lap around the parking lot doing 2 of that round's type of burpees at each of 5 cones that had been put in place. For the uninitiated, Hurpees is a burpee with a hand-release mercan. Pamela Andersons is a burpee with a nipple-scraper mercan. Prison cell burpees is a regular burpee but while in the down position do a peter parker with another merkin. Look it up, they are a true joy. Turkeees is a turkish get up followed by a burpee. And a HRPCB is the above-mentioned prison cell burpee but with hand-release mercans. Even more joy to be found with these.

Praises for strong bodies, the fellowship of men and the means to do what we do.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Today marks the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of France. Because thousands of men (some arguably still boys) bravely followed orders, the Axis forces were ultimately defeated. I'm thankful for brave men who do difficult things that serve a bigger cause beyond themselves. F3 is a tiny microcosm of that in my opinion. In a men's study just after today's workout, Cheneral (aka Daniel Chen) presented a definition of authentic manhood from the book "Raising a Modern Day Night" by Robert Lewis (strongly recommended reading for those of you with sons). The author explains how an authentic man:
  • Rejects Passivity
  • Accepts Responsibility
  • Leads Courageously
  • Expects the Greater Reward (i.e. knows that there is something beyond this world)
We will have these studies from 6:45-7:45 every Thursday until Aug 1 (except for July 4). Different lessons and teachers each week and all with a focus on authentic manhood.
