Defending the Flag

AO: Windjammer

When: 05/26/2023

QIC: Nair

PAX (11): Caroline, Cookie, Deep dish, False Start, Longshanks, Sparkie, Stu, Townie, uga, Walkie Talkie

Preamble:

Intel was received of unprovoked aggression by Hoppylike to capture the otherwise peaceful Windjammer’s flag.  Unfortunately for the Hoppylike, the Windjammer QIC was prepared with a plan.

Warm-O-Rama:

The enemy was unprepared for the change in direction away from the dam up the hill with the flag in hand for for Warm-o-Rama.  Side straddle hops, weed pickers, imperial walkers, arm circles and of course Michael Phelps to warm up the troops.

The Thang:

The entire troop charged toward the enemy to set up a fox hole along the Hoppylike’s planned route.  Indian run to the tunnel under webb bridge with 5 merkins at each cross road, hand off the flag.  At the tunnel separated into Alpha and Delta groups to take turns running scout missions back and forth from the tunnel while the other squad dug in for backup support with 15 merkins, 15 lunges, 15 mountain climbers and 15 American hammers.  The enemy was spotted in their approach and flags was defended for 4 sets.  Indian run back to home base with the flag with 5 squats at each cross street with very few complaints to the QIC about the speed of the run.

The base was attached and Hoppylike was not fooled by Cookie’s fake flag and planted a new flag of their own before retreating. We had to build back the defenses with coupons.  4 Sets of 20 curls, 20 overhead presses, 20 skull crushers and 20 rows.  Pax shifted left between each set.  Back to the starting position for extra credit merkins in honor of the fallen soldiers we lost in the withdrawal from Afganistan.

COT:

Luckily the Windjammer was able to reestablish our base and Cookie’s Bronco was able to witness it’s first off-road adventure.  Stu now has the strongest left arm in Alpharetta after holding the flag throughout the announcements.  Encouraged all that can make it to attend the Murph Monday at Brook Street Park.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

While Memorial day weekend gives us a great opportunity to spend time with family and enjoy ourselves, I am reminded of the great sacrifices by the soldiers and their families to defend our freedoms.  While there is a lot of political theatre and turmoil in today’s world, we still live in the greatest country in the world for those that were willing to give their lives to defend us against tyranny.
