World Hup Cup

AO: Rubicon

When: 12/08/2022

QIC: lumbergh

PAX (16): Avis, Cookie, False Start, FannyPack, Groundhog, Hollywood, Irene, Lefty, Lil Hurt, MillerTime, No-See-Um, Special K, Trebek, Turbine, Walkie Talkie

Preamble:

While the US was sadly knocked out of the World Cup I am still enjoying the games as we head into the quarterfinals. Plus it’s the first open Q I had available to bring a little soccer out.

The first HC was promised a bonus and while I think PAX are nervous about trusting me (More on that later…), No-See-Um stepped up and was awarded with power that could potentially be dangerous. Would he abuse it?

A sensational 6 for the pre-run.

Warm-O-Rama:

The second we struck 5:30 I dropped a soccer ball I held in my hands and began to kick it around the circle. Just like a half in soccer, our workouts are 45 minutes. Our goal is to keep the ball moving for the next 45 minutes. Any loss of control, handball, or stoppage would result in 5 burpees.

No-See-Um is acting as a ref today and made himself a little yellow card and brought out the whistle. Any any point for any reason he can dish out 10 mercans to the pax. This was immediately demonstrated on Miller Time who dropped for the first 10.

Some IWs, WPs, and arm circles to warm up while watching for the ball.

The Thang:

Over to the Swamp of Dreams (as the FOD is being renovated so we are playing on grass today which was a bit of a mushy field) where a board awaited. I promised a commemoration of the red white and blue and Cookie showed up in his USA gear not letting a loss keep him down.

However, today we are actually going for the red, white, and blue of the Netherlands. I know they beat us but have to keep a pick in the games and it’s in my ancestry.

Pairs of pax would keep the ball moving by dribbling across the field and back while the rest work their way through the board. Every time two groups of pax have gone out and back we switched exercises. Of course NOBODY got this as my brilliant idea of keeping a ball moving kept them distracted. We still hop right into it and the group picks it up pretty quick.

The board:

Happy Jacks (5 SSH, 2 squats)
Oranje Mountains (Dry Docks)
Lunge
Little Crab Boil (Crab Cake)
Amsterdam Hammers
No Surrenders
Dips on the bench

After the first round we all crab walked out to the scoreboard and back keeping the ball moving however the ball got away and our first burpees were earned. After the second round we bear crawled out and back.

Yellow cards continue to fly for bad form, for being absent for too long from Rubicon, a nasty bring down by Cookie whose anger at me bringing the Netherlands in to the workout boiled over, not moving fast enough, and finally issuing too many yellow cards.

Back to the parking lot for some mary. The ball continues to move with reverse LBCs, dollys, and flutter kicks, and some diamond mercans allowing some headers.

I call time and Fanny Pack picks up the ball at my encouragement, and this is where maybe my trust issues with the group make sense as it was only 6:14. PLAY TO THE WHISTLE! 5 more burpees and then it really was time.

COT:

Thanks to the pax for showing up and having some fun. I promise a more intense, less confusing BD next Thursday as I have the Q again. Will try to keep us drier as well.

Santa Ruck is coming up soonish.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Always a pleasure to lead. Hup Holland Hup!
