QIC: Chapter 11

PAX (12): Bottom Bunk, Crikey, DeLorean, FICO, Ha-ha, Orvis, Pepper, Shooter, TMI, TO, Untouchable

Preamble:

4th of July is probably one of my favorite days of the year. I always tell my wife that it is most definitely my favorite meal of the year. And so the morning of the 4th, I woke up wondering how I made the mistake of telling Stu about three weeks ago that I would take the Q on July 5th… needless to say, there wasn’t a ton of thought put into this one. I played lacrosse in high school at roswell and we used to have 6am workouts before school in the off-season. F3 reminds me a lot of those workouts. So I reached back in my memory and pulled out an old beatdown that was a regular occurance for the team. So credit for this one to coach Chrzanowski for this one… who called these “Iron mans”

Warm-O-Rama:

Grabbed about 5 of Ha-ha’s girlfriends and moseyed over to the St. Franicis parking lot. Circled up for:

  • SSH
  • Weed Pickers
  • Toy Soldiers

The Thang:

Continued to mosey down to the St. Francis track/field. Had to run through the woods in the dark after shooter learned that they’ve changed the locks on him.

Once down on the field, we started our first “Iron Man” – an official RHS lacrosse iron man consists of the following:

  1. 10 Stadiums
  2. Two laps around the track
  3. 100 yards Bear Crawl
  4. 100 yard walking lunges
  5. 200 yards sprint

And that is “one.”

We modified a little bit. First, the bleachers were wet and locked, so we replaced 10 stadiums with 100 squats. Second, instead of two laps around the track, we ran a lap of “catch me if you can” with a partner and a girlfriend (one person runs with the girlfriend, the other does 10 merkins and then runs to catch up, then switch).

After the first round, the PAX were ready to call it quits, congratulating me on a “good Q.” But back in the day, we never got away with just one iron man. So on to round two!

By the time we got to the lunges on the second round, the PAX were wishing they hadn’t skipped so many leg days in the past…

COT:

No major updates. But sounds like lots of events are coming up towards the end of July/August (Darth Visor memorial, F3/FIA convergence, etc.) so pay attention to slack!

Naked-Man Moleskin:

One of the things I love about F3 is that is always tests and pushes your limits. Normally, I would think, “there is no way I can get up and work out the day after 4th of July festivities.” But then you and your fellow PAX show up in the gloom and surprise yourself. It’s a great reminder that you can do more than you think you can do.
