This is the way

AO: Widowmaker

When: 07/02/2022

QIC: Dipstick

PAX (6): Ha-ha, Irene, NRA, Speedo, TMI

Preamble:

As I alluded to in the pre-blast, this was to be an Independance Day celebration. And so it was. But after going the wrong way down the one-way, and saying go “up” to go down, I had to re-name the beatdown. Either way, we all “got down.” See what I did there?

Warm-O-Rama:

After a brief disclaimer and a mosey, we circled up for:

  • SSH
  • Weedpicker
  • Windmill
  • Imperial Walkers

Before we headed off to the Widowmaker, I remembered it’s my daughter’s birthday (she’ll be 3 on the 4th), so we did 3 burpees.

The Thang:

Grab a coupon on the way down the Widowmaker, and meet at the bottom. Before we got into the Thang, I remembered it was my daughter’s birthday, so we did 3 burpees.

Thang 1:

Musical Dora with (mostly) EDM music in honor of Independance Day

  • Little T – Shaniqua
    • We all did this one together. I moved here almost a year ago at this point, and I still get mail for 3 different households. So, it reminded me of this song, and I came up with a “good” (see also: bad) exercise for it: Hold plank, and every time you hear “Shaniqua” do a merkin. About 35 total.
  • Endor – Pump it up
    • Curls
  • Daft Punk – One More Time
    • Squats
  • Eric Prydz – Call on Me
    • E2K’s
  • Matoma et. al. – Bruised Not Broken
    • Skull Crushers
  • Tiesto – The Business
    • Pickle Pointers
  • Run DMC – It’s Tricky
    • Breakdance Merkins
  • Survivor – Eye of the Tiger (I needed one crowd pleaser)
    • LBC’s
  • Sean Finn, Corona – Rhythm of the Night
    • Diamond Merkins, Moroccan Nightclubs as an alternative

Put the coupons back, then meet at the bottom of the hill. Can’t run up just half the Widowmaker… has to be the whole thing! But first, I remembered it was my daughter’s birthday, so we did 3 burpees.

Thang 1.5:

After running back up the Widowmaker, we moseyed over to the pavilion. But before we did that, I remembered it was my daughter’s birthday, and so we did 3 burpees.

At the pavilion: partner up (which I admit, was utterly pointless) and alternate between dips and derkins, starting at 11 and counting down to 0. I called time when most got down to about 5, and we headed back to the flag for some Mary.

But before we got to the Mary, I remembered it was my daughter’s birthday, so we did 3 burpees. We finished it off with some gas pumpers and American hammers.

COT:

Many upcoming events such as a 2nd F cryo freeze, NLB dinner, and the quarterly blood drive. Check Slack for dates and details. Also, YHC is looking for a leader to step up for John’s Creek to lead efforts on the blood drive locally there.

Prayers to those traveling, and wishing everyone a fun and safe 4th of July celebration.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Always an honor to lead. First time Qing an hour long beatdown. It was a good challenge and I’m glad I did it. Most importantly, I’m grateful for the opportunity.
