When did we change the start time?

AO: The Gladiator

When: 08/10/2021

QIC: Speedo

PAX (19): Manchester, Bo Knows, Tar Heel, Snow Bird (RR), Fire Drill, Tebow, Hitchcock, Scratch-off, Brownie, Vertigo, Shiner, DC2, Spandex (R), Laces, Cheneral, Dreamer, Ironhead, Stampede (FNG), Speedo

Preamble:

With our new 0515 start time, it was unclear how many PAX would show up but YHC was pleasantly surprised to see cars pouring in…on time.  With 16 of us at the start, a disclaimer was given and we were off.  Our numbers would grow as the morning progressed.

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey to the parking lot by the tennis courts for:

  • SSH x15
  • Windmills x12
  • Imperial Walkers x12

Mosey toward the far pitch and stopped at each speed bump for 5 burpees.  Our numbers increased by one when a late-arriving PAX ran down and joined us for the burpees.  PAX count was now 17.

The Thang:

Thang 1

Circle up on the center circle like well-trained commandos.  YHC introduced four corners but with a ‘toll’ of 10 star jumps in the center between each exercise which included:

  1. LBCs x25
  2. Monkey Humpers x25
  3. Flutter Kicks (alpha) x25
  4. Squats x25

We started and ended with 10 star jumps for a total of 50.  The time was 0525.

Thang 2

Since we were already circled up, YHC instructed the PAX to get into an Al Gore position (air chair with hands out in front like you are hugging a tree) and we were going to shuffle around the circle to the left until YHC called an exercise.  We did the exercise (the first one was 10 merkins) and then shuffled in the other direction.  We kept this pattern with burpees, squats, more merkins, more burpees, and then some diamonds.

At some point during this time, a car drove through and parked where we park.  This was the not-to-be-named sad clown PAX who didn’t get the 17 memos about the time change.  Since he brought an FNG he was quickly forgiven.

Vertigo gave us a very quick and loud walking 10-count and we were off again.

Thang 3

Mosey to the rec center (but stopping for 5 big bois at two different speed bumps) and partner up.  P1 runs to the pavilion by the water park and back while P2 does AMRAP of an exercise, then flapjack.  Exercises were:

  • Dwight Howards (jump up and slap the backboard (aka the wall)
  • Wall sit
  • Rocky Balboas
  • Donkey Kicks (always a crowd-pleaser)

Gazelles were instructed to do BTTW for the six.  When the six was in Cheneral gave us a slower but confidently loud 10-count and we were off again to the other pitch.

Thang 4

Partner up on the end line for partner curls.  P1 gets in a plank position while P2 picks up P1’s feet and curls them. Each partner did 10 and then flapjack until each guy had done 50.  Lots of mumble chatter about whether it was easier/harder to do the curls or the plank.  At least one PAX was complimented on how good his rear end looked but that’s all we’ll say about that.

Vertigo astutely and wise-assedly pointed out the movement was more of an upright row so he unknowingly joined the all-time co-Q club with DC2.

We moseyed to the other end of the pitch and, with the same partners, did a wheelbarrow.  P1 planks and P2 picks up P1’s legs and they move together to the top of the box (18-yard line) or as far as P1 can go and then flapjack. Continue until you cross the entire field (100 meters).  This one was a lot harder than YHC had planned and I dropped earlier and more often than I would have thought.  I’m sure it had nothing to do with the other exercises we had already done.

With a few minutes remaining, we kept the same partners and did partner derkins.  P1 planks while P2 puts his legs on P1’s back and does 10 derkins and the switch.  A few guys misheard me (there is no way I was unclear :)) and started back for the flag before this one.  They were reeled back in and completed the activity.

Back to the flag for some hammers from DC2, pickle pounders from Brownie (sorry you missed @Stroller) and merkins from Fire Drill who is clearly a masochist to some degree.  Time was called.

COT:

Great to have Bo Knows’ brother join us as an FNG today…welcome @stampede

Prayers for Fire Drill and Laces aunt who is in hospice with late-stage pancreatic cancer.

Prayers for Wicka-wicka to find a kidney donor and not have to go on dialysis.

Prayers for those with covid, dealing with its health effects, its economic effects, etc.

Prayers for all those unspoken requests.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Thanks as always for showing up and accepting my lead today.  The workouts never get easier but are a lot easier with you guys around me.
