Saturday Morning Sweatfest

AO: The Gladiator

When: 07/06/2019

QIC: Whiz

PAX (5): Stroller, Trickle, Brownie, Viking, Whiz

Preamble:

YHC wound-up on the Q sheet for this morning a couple months ago thanks to Stroller playing a little prank in an effort to get more guys involved in the Saturday beatdowns at The Gladiator.  With that much advance notice, I was happy to oblige and it just happened to be the perfect time to get down and check out the AO and check off a few Spearhead boxes while I was at it.  After a 2 mile pre-ruck with Stroller and a brief Elvis, YHC was ready to bring the pain.  The temp was lower but the air was dense with humidity making perfect conditions for the sweatfest that ensued.

Warm-O-Rama:

A short mosey around the back of the baseball fields and into the upper parking lot , where Viking found us and joined in the fun.

  • Moroccan Nightclubs
  • Hillbillies
  • Good Morning
  • Sprinkler
  • High Knees

The Thang:

Thang 1 –  Mosey over to the nearby pavilion for Burpeepocalypse.  This gem has become Sculley’s calling card and I knew the Gladiator PAX would enjoy it as little as YHC.

  • Start with 11 burpees, 5 second rest, 10 burpees, 5 second rest, 9 burpees…etc. all the way down to 1.

Thang 2 –

Now that we were properly warmed-up and drenched with sweat, we moseyed over to the upper parking lot by the main building for some indian run 11’s.  A standard 11’s routine but the PAX perform each exercise together at spot 1 and then indian run to spot 2 for the other.  Spot 1 = Mountain Climbers (Alpha Count), Spot 2 = WW1 Sit-ups.  We indian ran the perimeter of the lot in between, which wound-up being more running than anticipated but a good way to push nonetheless.

Thang 3 –

No time for the Hindenburg BLIMPS I had planned for the soccer field so we moseyed to another pavilion and did some bench work to kill some time.

  • Derkins, Dips, Incline Merkins (civilian cadence) – start with 10 reps of each, work our way down to 2 reps reducing count by 2 each round
  • 25 step-ups IC, 20 jump-ups IC

Mary –

We made it back to the flag with a few minutes to spare and just enough time for some bat wings to polish off our shoulders.

COT:

Praise for the Molinari family, who just welcomed their 18 yo son back home from the hospital.  Prayers to lift up the Ferguson family, whose father/husband was senselessly killed last week during an argument.

YHC also made my standard pitch for GrowRuck.  Seriously, you need to consider this unique opportunity for growth and bonding with your fellow PAX if you haven’t signed-up already.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

It was an honor and privilege to lead the men of Gladiator this morning.  Awesome to meet Brownie and hear about his story…talk about the epitome of a true HIM.  Also, major T-Claps to Trickle who posted to his 3rd beatdown in his first week of F3.  He’s already drinking the Kool-Aid and will surely be a staple of the region before long.

SYITG,

Whiz
