Quest for 1000 (lumberghathon part 1)

AO: The Rubicon

When: 04/04/2019

QIC: lumbergh

PAX (13): Bayside, The Hammer, Top Hat, Devito, Lowes, Mayhem, Wrigley, Jackalope, Stifler, Pitstop, Turbine, Trebek

Preamble:

I can’t eat spaghetti, there’s too many of them. No matter how hungry I am, 1,000 of something is too many. I’ll have 1,000 pieces of noodles.
-Mitch Hedberg

13 PAX with 3 jogging in from different points were ready to go at 5:30. A solid crew for Spring Break with the promise of a spaghetti breakfast missed the keyword in the clue on slack. The goal today is 1000 reps as a team.

Warm-O-Rama:

We mosey to the flag for some warmup
25X SSH
25X Mountain Climbers

There is some debate here on whether this is 25 reps at F3 count or 50 each at single count. Q gives credit for 100 total.

The Thang:

The PAX hit the track just before the trade deadline. It appears we got a Trebek in exchange for a Miller Time. (Feel better MT)

Today’s goal is 1000 reps but we will do that together. The PAX start the exercise as listed and when the first person hits 50 they yell GO and everyone moseys to the other side of the track together for another 50.

The list:

50 more SSH on the west side
50 more Mountain Climbers on the east side
Merkins (50 in the west, 50 in the east)
LBC’s
Lunges (single count)
Overhead Claps (or Shoulder Pops, if you prefer)
Obliques (Right over left in the west, left over right in the east)
Squats
Flutter Kicks

We heard from a variety of people that hit 50 for each exercise. That put us at 900 reps and the clock is ticking

One more lap with 10 burpees at each of the six light pole and we head toward the flag. One more stop to ensure we do not lose anybody for 10 more burpees and then back to the flag a hair past time.

No single person hit 1000 but everyone there can say “My workout group did over 950 reps together this morning and ran over 2.5 miles”

COT:

Convergence at Norseman (North Park) is the 20th

f3Alpha anniversary picnic is the 28th

An f3alpha email was sent this past week. If you missed it get with Devito to get on the mailing list.

Look for details on my goal to raise money for a trip with my 2.0 to Costa Rica. Check slack for other opportunities to give including PAX going on longterm mission to Asia.

Prayers for those traveling this week, and those with injuries and upcoming surgeries.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

This was the first of a series I dubbed lumbergh-athon. A weekly workout by me leading up to my f3 anniversary. All totaled the distance of a lumbergh-athon should be greater than a half marathon, but probably less than a full marathon. Pre-runs will help maximize the distance.

YHC swells with pride when he hears “Lumberghathon is real” during the workout.

Join me at Norseman on Tuesday for the 2nd in the series.
