When: 06/30/2021

QIC: Clyde

PAX (13): Swiper, Inseam, Crab Cakes, Schneider, Lightweight, Snowman, LifeLock, McDuff, Mr. Hand, Emeril, Spit Valve, Shag, Clyde

Preamble:

I believe it has been over 5 years since my last Q at my home AO of Big Creek.  A lot of great memories and accelerating have occurred on these hallowed grounds.  So, I felt in my return Q it would be a great time tour the Gloom that is Big Creek and show the newer PAX a few notable Landmarks!

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey to far side of the park by the Tennis courts for warm-ups:

YHC knew instantly that I was in much better shape the last time I did this BD about 5 years ago….. I almost called a 10 count there, but the fog cleared and we pushed on,

20 – Willie Mays Hayes

15 – Good Mornings

20 – Sun Gods

The Thang:

Time for a History lesson:

Stop 1 Tennis Pavilion:

5 – Burpees

It was here the PAX learned of my terrible T2 tennis loss a short 8 years earlier, in my first and almost last match ever I was beaten by an 88 year old 300 lbs. Tennis player I could only compare to Andre Agassi in his prime.

Stop 2 New by trail close to Tennis:

5- Burpees

10 – Derkins

At this stop we learned of young Jose Lopez who while celebrating a friend’s birthday party in 2018 was enjoying his first Peanut butter and Jelly sandwich.  Unfortunately, Jose set it down to play tag and learned a valuable lesson about ants at parks.

Stop 3 Soccer Pavilion:

5 – Burpees

10 – Derkins

15 – Squats

At this faithful locale we learned of Tommy Baxter who was playing on the picnic tables before his soccer match instead of warming up with his team.  A brief dispute between him and his sister and a slight shove Tommy fell and broke his arm causing him to miss the rest of the season.

Stop 4 Small Amphitheater behind Gym:

5 – Burpees

10 – Derkins

15 – Squats

20 – Step-ups

In this secluded location tucked in a far corner of the gloom the Pax learned of Tiffany Smith and Bryan Thomas.  This was the location Thomas received his first kiss but thankfully was shut down before making it to 2nd base, as the young couple had not learned about teen pregnancy yet.  Crisis was averted that day.

Stop 5 Big Pavilion:

5 – Burpees

10 – Derkins

15 – Squats

20 – Step-ups

25 – Dips

Here is where the Talbot Family had a wonderful spring picnic ruined due to the great Hailstorm of 2016.  They were able to take cover under this Pavilion but unfortunately, they could not get the minivan under cover as well.  Damage was done.

Halftime:

Stop at the rail for some throwback racoon crawls.  Body……  Body?

Stop 6 Small Pavilion closest to Fire station:

5 – Burpees

10 – Derkins

15 – Squats

20 – Step-ups

25 – Dips

30 – LBC’s

Unfortunately, time was running short on our tour by the time we reached this pavilion.  We ran right past the turn for the skate park, basketball courts, and lower track.  Which as you would imagine is filled with tales of broken bones, Fist fights over checked balls at people’s feet and World records on the ¼ mile oval.

Fortunately, we were able to hear the tale of Little Bobby’s 12th birthday party.  This young man with the whole world in front of him was celebrating with friends and family on a gorgeous spring day when it was time for his favorite treat, the Cookie cake!  This is when tragedy struck.  Boddy’s mom tripped on a rogue kick ball causing the Cookie cake to hit the ground and was ruined for all.  Bobby never recovered.

Stop 7 F3 Pavilion:

5 – Burpees

10 – Derkins

15 – Squats

20 – Step-ups

25 – Dips

30 – LBC’s

35 – Monkey Humpers

As you all know this pavilion is where F3 all began.  The rumors of a Mothership in NC are all propaganda provided by the Far right Media or is it the far Left I can’t remember.  Feel free to fact check me.

COT:

Moleskin:

–              Could not have been a better morning for a BD, it truly is amazing to see the numbers AlphaNorth has been putting up and I could not be happier to be back in the Gloom with my brothers.  5 years ago, when I first did this BD if you told me, we would have a 13 PAX and think that was an average to small crowd I would have called you a liar.
