Hearts (and quads, and glutes) On Fire for Miss Bonnie Blair!
AO: The Rubicon
PAX: Mayhem, Bo Knows, Pinky, Pellets, Stiffler, Lumbergh, Special K, Cookie, Miller Time, Devito, Trebek, Lowes
You could tell that love was in the air this morning at the Rube and that all the PAX were eager to get it on…errrr…get on with it so we started promptly at 5:30am with a quick disclaimer including a reminder that YHC is a professional accountant, not a professional trainer!
SSH x 15
Copperhead Squat x 15
Weed Pickers x 15
Plank Jacks x 15
Then a quick mosey over to the Field of Dreams.
I thought its been quite a while since we had a traditional Deck of Death beatdown at the Rubicon so in the spirit of the holiday, I dubbed it the “Deck of Love”. This mornings deck of Love consisted of:
Clubs = SSH
Diamonds = Diamond Merkins (or any variation on Merkins the PAX chose)
Spades = Big Boy Situps
Hearts = the Queen of all of our hearts, everyone’s favorite Miss Bonnie Blair
Jokers = Wild (PAX choice of 12) – we had 12 Burpees and 12 Wide Arm Merkins
Going around the circle each PAX would take turns pulling the top card. The suit determined the exercise and the number on the card determined the count, with a lap around the FOD each time we went around the circle of PAX.
I must admit I did stack the first three cards in the deck to be hearts to make the PAX think that it was a deck of ONLY hearts. However, it doesn’t seem like that was really necessary since the deck apparently wasn’t shuffled as well as I thought it was. The first half of the deck was extremely Bonny Blair heavy and the back half of the deck was extremely Big Boy Situps heavy. Nevertheless, the PAX this morning were strong and we blew through the deck really quickly with about 15 minutes remaining.
Next up, we all obtained a coupon that was appropriate for curling and returned to the FOD for a little partner pyramid featuring curls with coupon and partner shrugs.
The PAX found a partner, then lined up somewhere between the 2nd base line and the warning track. All started with 10 curls with coupon, then ran to the warning track for 20 partner shrugs (partner one assumes the plank position while partner two grabs partner one by the ankles – or knees if you are Cookie and Miller Time – and used the weight of your partner for shoulder shrugs, then flapjack and repeat).
Noticing the resulting silhouettes of the partner shrugs, the mumble chatter quickly became R rated to the point where it was a good thing that none of our younger PAX were present as it would have been too much for their innocent ears to handle!
